Email is a part of our everyday lives but it can easily become the biggest pain-in-the-you-know-what that we deal with on a daily basis. Personally, I seriously dislike having all of the folders listed on the left side because it takes up space and is something that I rarely use. Those things that I do use I have streamlined into a more efficient way of utilizing my MacMail by utilizing the features below. If you use your email app a lot but want to streamline it, try these tips:
Filters
This is one of my favorite features of any email client. I am signed up for a lot of subscriptions and tips but I don’t always want to read them as they come in. Instead, I filter them by email address into various folders (such as Pitches) so that I can peruse them at my leisure.
HTML Signature Generator
Spruce up your email signature with something more professional than simply inserting your name and number. There are a number of generators to let you customize your font, size, colors, and image. I used HTML sig, which lets you choose where to align your photo and includes social icons (see photo below), but you can also check out WiseStamp or New Old Stamp.
Toolbar Folders
Move your most-used folders to the toolbar so that you have easy access to them. It also allows for dropping-and-dragging emails into the folders and subfolders, regardless of what email accounts you have activated. So, if you’re like me, you may receive emails on a number of different accounts and this lets you keep them altogether. Plus, it works really well with the filters mentioned above because you can access them straight from the toolbar.
Color coded flags
I have four email accounts hooked up to my MacMail and the color-coded flags is a lifesaver. I can tag my books as blue, pitches as green, to-do as red, and, pretty much, anything else I want to flag. Not only does it allow me to scroll through my inbox and see what needs to be done easily, I’m also able to sort by flag color and only view what’s relevant.
