Readers – let’s face it. Books are downright sinful. We ignore people and social events in order to finish a book, feel a little bit of guilt for reading one book over another, and judge others for their reading habits (even if we don’t admit it). If you don’t believe me, then keep reading.
The 7 Deadly Sins
Lust – Let’s be real – readers lust after first editions and gorgeous covers.
Gluttony – We devour books. We can read more than one at a time and no matter how many we read, it’s not enough. Even when we’re stuck with a book hangover, we want more.
Greed – We want ALL the books. Whether we have one bookshelf or ten, it’s not enough.
Sloth – It is perfectly acceptable to shirk all responsibilities and chores to read a good book. Perfectly acceptable.
Wrath – If someone writes in our books, dog ears the pages, or fails to return it – wrath is what they will get.
Envy – There is always someone who has more books, more signed copies, or more bookshelves and while we’re happy for them, we’re a little envious.
Pride – We proudly display our acquisitions and talk about our reading accomplishments whenever possible.
