The Lake House by Kate Morton

The Lake House

For years, Kate Morton has been one author whose books I know I can count on. She has mastered the dual narrative and her visual descriptions of sweeping landscapes and old estates are phenomenal. The Lake House holds true to these features but the writing was a bit different than usual and I must admit, this wasn't my favorite of hers. The Lake House is the … [Read more...]

The Fogotten Garden by Kate Morton

The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton is an intricately woven tale of long-hidden family secrets and the quest to uncover them. Told from the viewpoint of 3 different generations, it is an excellent way to disappear from the world and into the garden! When I think of Kate Morton, the words "richly woven tale" come to mind. Her stories are so intricate and leave … [Read more...]

the clockmakers daughter by kate morton

If there’s one word that comes to mind when I read a Kate Morton book, it’s cozy. It’s so easy to curl up and let her stories wrap around you and provide shelter from what’s going on in the world. They’re always so intricate, precariously balancing past and present until they collide in the most unexpected ways. The Clockmaker’s Daughter was no different, but this one took … [Read more...]

December 21, 2016 by Allison Hiltz 13 Comments

2016 was a big year for big purchases in our household, and I must say, they were all worth it. After a year of hunkering down and saving like crazy, my husband and I were finally able to purchase our first home. Because were were so thrifty for so long, we made up for lost time with a few purchases to complement our new home (okay, maybe some of them were just for fun...). … [Read more...]
