You may be wondering where I’ve been, lately, because I’ve been quieter than usual on social media and on the site. That’s because I’m running for City Council so that I can fight to meet the needs of our community. My city, Aurora (Denver-metro area), is large but lacks the affordable housing and inclusiveness that it needs.
Recently, Aurora City Council has catered to the Trump administration by refusing to protect our immigrant population. Our mayor will not stand up for our environment in the face of our withdrawal from the Paris Agreement. And, more disturbingly, our current Council repeatedly ignores the pleas of its residents.
We deserve better. We deserve to ensure that the voices of all Aurora residents are heard. I am running so that Aurora remains a diverse and vibrant community that looks out for everyday people. I am running to advocate for people who, like me, work hard to make ends meet, regardless of where they come from.

But campaigns are difficult, and expensive. I can’t bring this vision of an Aurora city government that truly listens and responds to the needs of its residents without your support.
And while you likely do not live in Aurora, I know that you care about people around the nation and want to help. And I know that, through your years of supporting The Book Wheel, you support me.
So please consider helping me resist toxic policies that ignore the needs of its communities by donating $35 for my 35th right now. And, of course, please share with your friends! If you do, you’ll make all my birthday wishes come true.
