No Surprise Here: I’m Running for Office!

March 8, 2017 by Allison Hiltz 12 Comments

Right now, women around the world are on strike to demand equal pay, fair labor standards, and an end to violence against women. We’ve come a long way, but women still don’t get an equal seat at the table.

That’s why I’m writing this. I know many of my readers want to see more women in office—qualified, progressive women who will fight for equality and justice.

I want to be that woman, which is why I’m pleased to share

that I am running for City Council in Aurora, CO.

But don’t worry – I’m not going anywhere! Over the years, I have met so many great bloggers, readers, and authors and I can’t imagine a life without The Book Wheel. So while I am embarking on a new journey, I will still be right here with you.

If you are interested in ensuring that we have a voice at the table, enacting policies that support women and minorities and blocking those that harm them, please consider a donation (U.S. Citizens only). You can also learn more about me and my race at allisonhiltz.com

Your donation will mean the difference between someone receiving a flyer or not, my being able to hold an event or not, me becoming an Aurora City Council member or not. Today, you can:

  • Donate $80 in honor of the women who make up to 80 cents on the dollar compared to men.
  • Donate $56 in honor of the percentage of Americans who support birth control coverage.
  • Donate $19 in honor of the 19th Amendment, which (finally) granted women the right to vote.

Thank you so much for believing in me and supporting me over the years! If you’re interested in following along with my race, visit me at allisonhiltz.com or follow me on Twitter. While I feel this is important news to share with you here on The Book Wheel, I will be keeping the two separate.
